Founded in 2005, Salsazon Dance Company has captivated both local and out of town spectators as well as audiences worldwide with its unique Latin flavour. Under the co-direction of Marcos Ravelo and Katreena Cardenas, Salsazon has solidified its reputation as the Premier Latin-Cuban Dance Company in Calgary, Albert, Canada. Acknowledged for their colourful costuming and original choreographies, Salsazon is proud to display a diverse range of multi-ethnic dance styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Rumba, Guaguanco, Reggaeton, Samba and specializes in Casino as well as Rueda de Casino. Our team has had the opportunity to showcase its energizing and innovative routines in many local and national events such as Expo Latino, Fiestaval, Sun and Salsa Festival, Modelo Look competition, Brazilian Pavilion (Saskatoon’s Folk Fest), Vancouver Salsa International Rueda Congress, Salsa Palooza Edmonton, Calgary's International Salsa Congress, Lilac Fest, International Dance Day, Global Fest and many other events, including the Guinness World Record for largest dance lesson in the world. International events include the Yokohama Japan Salsa Festival, San Francisco International Salsa Festival and the Portland Salsa Festival to name a few. In addition, SDC has had the honor of opening for local and world renowned musical groups including Pachanga, Puerto Rican Power, Grammy Nominees Maraca, Tiempo Libre, Chuchito Valdez, Wil Campa, Oscar De Leon, Joe Arroyo, Tres de la Habana, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, DLG, Huey Dumbar and Grammy Winners Ignacio Berroa, Los Munequitos de Matanzas, Yoruba Andabo, Grupo Niche, Fruko y sus Tesos Sonora Carruseles. SDC’s vision is to spread the joy of Latin dancing throughout the world, from small communities to big cities. Marcos and Katreena have continued to make a name for themselves, Havana Cuban Dance Studio as well as Salsazon Dance Company locally, provincially, and internationally, leaving those in their path with an insatiable hunger for the taste of true Cuban culture!
